Since childhood Deborah has written poetry, painting came later in life. Deborah has a strong base in pattern/fabric design, typography and symbol design. This has enabled her to take up the mantle of designing decorative art with ease. The world of mandala design opened to her when she designed images for her second volume of poetry Who Sees the Wind. This body of work shows influences from different decorative traditions. Then Deborah concentrated on creating Celtic designs which led to the publication of Celtic Decorative Art.

Deborah presents her poetry outside the parameters of traditional poetry readings. The emphasis is on the creation of a space where the sacred is given a space to enter, where the heart is nourished, where one can quietly be. Selections from the mystical and other traditions are always an essential part of Deborah's poetry events.

The Avalonian Free State Choir & The Poets
Was a great event

Deborah’s inspiration brought poets Jo Water-
worth, Jade Moon, David Cloke and herself
together for the second time to present an event
with The Avalonian Free State Choir. It was part
of The Christmas Tree Festival at St. John’s Church,
Glastonbury. The church, lit by 40 Christmas trees
filled with Glastonbury’s colourful and diverse
community. It was a truly heart felt, inspired
Season of Light celebration.

The Poets gave a wonderful presentation of their
individual and diverse styles. Weaving poetry with
world songs sung in acapella and gossamer webbed
harmonies left the audience with a glow.
The Avalonian Free State Choir, directed and
conducted by Sally Pullinger was established in
1992, they have performed widely, including
The Royal Festival Hall and The Glastonbury
Festival. Oshia Drury and Di Milstein are also
conductors of the choir. Gabby O’Connor, Sally’s
grand-daughter was a guest poet.
